Soults, Barb

Saturday, September, 12, 1998

DAVENPORT — Services for Barbara Lei Guinee Soults, of 1605 Coffelt Ave., will be held at Cunnick-Collins Mortuary and Crematory, Davenport. Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 13. The funeral will be 10 a.m. Monday, Sept. 14. Burial will be in Memorial Park immediately after the services. A memorial fund has been established. She died Tuesday, Sept. 8, 1998, at University Hospitals, Iowa City. Barbara was born Oct. 28, 1953, in Davenport, to “Mike” and Virginia Soults. She graduated from Davenport Central High School in 1972 and from the University of Iowa in 1976 with a bachelor’s degree in social work. She was affiliated with Alpha Phi sorority while at the university and was a pompon girl. She later belonged to the Sweet Adelines, the Living, Loving and Learning Cancer Support Group and the Junior League of the Quad-Cities. She played volleyball in many Bettendorf leagues. She was employed at Juvenile Court Services, Davenport, and Davenport Police Department. She married Wayne Guinee in December 1975. Two daughters, Tory and Stephanie, were born to that union. She is survived by her children and their special friend, Brent Meeker; her significant other, Edson Hoffman II; her father, Marion “Mike” Soults of Davenport; two sisters and a brother-in-law, Sandra Bryant of Iron River, Mich., and Kermit and Susan Brown, West Palm Beach, Fla. She also is survived by many nieces, nephews and cousins, in addition to her grandson, Brent. She was preceded in death by her mother, Virginia Soults, in 1994.
