David Burkle, 73, of Moline, Illinois, passed away Saturday, August 29, 2026, in Rock Island, Illinois.
Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. Friday, September 4, 2026, at Schultz Funeral Home, DeWitt. A committal service and burial will follow at Elmwood Cemetery, DeWitt.
David Lavern Burkle was born November 4, 1952, in Moline, Illinois, to La Vern Elmer Burkle and Shirley M. (Mathias) Burkle. He graduated from Central High School in Davenport, and later served his country in the United States Army from January 10, 1975, until January 9, 1981. David worked as a driver for AA Refrigeration until retirement.
David was an avid fisherman, and enjoyed watching wrestling. He was intrigued by the mystery of Sasquatch and enjoyed watching videos and following the stories, theories, and adventures of those searching for it.
David was the father of four children, Monica, Joshua, Jeremy, and Justin (Stephanie), and was blessed with 16 grandchildren, Xavier, Jasmin, Eliana, Emma, Isabel, Abigail, Jonathan, Gage, Brittney, Matthew, Hayley, Bella, Alex, Tyler, Cruz, and Theodore. His family also includes his brother, Paul, sister, Brenda, and his partner, Karen Finley.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Shirley, his infant sister, Tina, and nephew, Ryan McCoy.
