BETTENDORF – Ricky R. Dykes, 64, of Bettendorf passed away on Sunday, September 23, 2018. Visitation will be held from noon to 2 p.m. on Thursday, September 27, 2018, at the Runge Mortuary, Davenport, followed by a celebration of life at 2 p.m. Memorials may be made to King’s Harvest Ministries or the family to help fund an angel tree for the holidays. Ricky was born on August 21, 1954, to Raymond and Joy (Holder) Dykes in Davenport. He graduated from Central High School in 1972, then spent one year at Evangel University and one year at Black Hawk College. He retired from Alcoa in 2005 after 32 years, where he worked as a Hot Line General Supervisor. After his retirement, he continued to do contractual work for Alcoa for another seven years.
Ricky was always helping everyone, especially his family. He was hardworking, loyal, generous and would always go above and beyond. He gave 110 percent in everything he did and never gave up. Ricky was a great father and doting grandfather. He was a jokester, funny, always teasing everyone and a very good cook. He was an avid in fishing, biking and wood working.
Survivors include his wife, Ruth Dykes, Bettendorf; daughters, Toni (Eric) Woolard, Harrisburg, Illinois, and Jennifer (Jenny) Dykes, Bettendorf; grandchildren, Grayson, Avery, Caroline and Jake Woolard, all of Harrisburg; nieces and nephews, Lisa O’Connor, Matt Dykes, Chris Dykes, Tim Dykes, Jim Dykes and Toby Dykes; and sisters-in-law, Gwen Dykes and Carletta Dykes.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Larry and Terry Dykes.
