DAVENPORT — Steven C. Nichols, 61, of Davenport passed away Saturday, June 20, 2015, surrounded by his loving family, wife, Jolene; daughters, Jennifer (Darrin) Lawson, Tracy Nichols (Terrell Simmons); special nieces, Ecstasy (Paul) Ramirez and Megan Garcia.
Steve was born Jan. 5, 1954, to Lafayette and Delores (Adams) Nichols in Davenport. He was united in marriage to Jolene Cook on Sept. 30, 1972. Steve retired from the Plumbers & Pipefitters Local 25 after 30 years of service. He enjoyed riding his Harley and was a retired member of the Ranch Riders Motorcycle Brotherhood. He loved watching his grandchildren’s sporting events and in earlier years, Steve coached softball and Little League baseball. He was an avid Iowa Hawkeyes football/basketball fan.
In addition to his wife and daughters, others left to cherish Steve’s memory are mother, Delores Williams; brothers, Lafe “Mickey” (Shirley) Nichols, Damon (Kathy) Nichols, and Steven M. Nichols; sisters Carol Ann Murphy and Monica (Jeff) Calhoun; sister-in-law, Mary Jo Cook (Nichols); beloved grandchildren, Quilin and Kaydyn Johnson, Hunter and Hannah Lawson, Trevon, Tayson and Tavian Simmons; daughter, Tonya Akright and her children Nathan, Logan and Tamra Akright. Many nieces and nephews, special nephews, Christy Nichols, Austin Nichols and Paul Ramirez.
He was preceded in death by his father, “Moms” Clemmie Nichols and Doris Cook; sister, Sydney; and brothers, Dennis and Brian.
