MILAN, Ill. — James P. Smith, died Thursday, Dec. 18, 2003, at his home in Milan, Ill. Services are 11 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 23 at Family Funeral Services, Milan. Burial is in National Cemetery, Rock Island Arsenal. Visitation is 10-11 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Memorials to be made to his sons education fund. James was born April, 16, 1954, in Davenport, to Justus and Phyllis (Kerr) Smith. He married Stephanie Nelson in February of 1954, in Davenport. His second marriage was to Jill Griffin in February of 1988, in Davenport. He was a salesman. He sold industrial tools for many years, but most recently sold cars in the Quad-City area, currently at the Kar Mart, Milan. He was a veteran of the United States Army. He enjoyed playing the guitar, watching drag racing and fishing. Survivors include his daughter, Courtney, of Georgia; sons, Skye, of Moline, and Matthew, of Georgia; his mother, Phyllis Smith, of Naples, Fla.; brothers, Bob, of Rice Lake, Wis., Jon, of Davenport, and Casey, of Temeculah, Calif.
